This paper is a first outline that examines some questions of the petroleum fiscal in Mexico, focusing on the background and performance of the oil Mexican industry before the last energy reform; on the all fiscal terms and conditions for oil contracts and “assignments”; and, the new challenges presented by Mexican State. In conclusion, this paper provides an overview of the fiscal system for oil.
