Resumen

OCHOA JIMENEZ, María Julia. Latin America and the Concept of Culture in the International Legal Order. Bol. Mex. Der. Comp. [online]. 2012, vol.45, n.135, pp.1221-1238. ISSN 2448-4873.

The concept of culture has undergone changes over time in the international legal order. Variations range from the material conception of the late nineteenth century to the recognition, which occurred more recently, of intangible elements of traditional culture within the concept of cultural heritage. In a chronological structure, this article discusses contributions made by Latin America and it argues that what is proposed by countries of the region beyond its borders, on the one hand, reflects elements pertaining to their internal legal orders and, on the other hand, goes in the opposite direction to that what is practiced into them.

Palabras llave : Concept of culture; Latin America; international legal order.
