The essay's objective is to analyze how the Mexican Constitution fixes its basic principle of a Democratic Republic, which are their scopes, characteristics and legal profiles. For this purpose and elements that serve this examination, a path is made through the classification of government forms to better understand the evolution and various forms of government that Mexico has known since 1821, highlighting their uniqueness to propose a classification of the same design to show how the Democratic Republic and its regulation in the Mexican Constitution of 1857 and 1917 was reached. It also unravels the meaning of Republic, its scope and development in the Mexican Constitution. The same exercise is done with the concept of democracy and it is emphasized in material respects which are highlighted.
