The so-called "process of globalization" and its consequences have centered the academic discussions in the role and even the existence of the State-nation. In this framework, this paper deals the relationships among its structural elements (sovereignty, territory and population/people) and their particular impact on the human being and the functional assumptions that this structure implied for the individual: nationality, citizenship, being alien, being migrant. Which redefinitions do the referred crises bring in regard to these concepts, specifically to the human movement?
