Resumen

LERNER, Pablo. Sobre armonización, derecho comparado y la relación entre ambos. Bol. Mex. Der. Comp. [online]. 2004, vol.37, n.111, pp. 919-966. ISSN 0041-8633.

The importance of comparative law is clear: not only does it help to understand the law as a cultural creation, but it also provides an intellectual base for the interpretation and the analysis of different legal systems, as well as helping for the understanding and interpretation of our own legal system. As the author of this essay explains, the relation between comparison and harmonization is complex and admits different readings. Comparison and harmonization need each other, even though they develop themselves in different paths. In turn, both converge towards a common destiny: the emergence of a wider legal culture, in consonance with an era of transformations that seems to be leading towards an harmonization of legal systems.

Palabras llave : comparative law; legal systems; harmonization; unification.
