TINEO, Nahilse; NUNEZ, Noebenny; RODRIGUEZ, Lourdes y RODRIGUEZ, Alexis. Distal ileal atresia with entero-umbilical fistula in a newborn. Rev. mex. pediatr. [online]. 2019, vol.86, n.5, pp.190-193. Epub 02-Oct-2020. ISSN 0035-0052.
The atresia of the digestive tract is one of the most important causes of acute surgical abdomen in newborns. Distal ileum atresia occurs in 36% of cases. Ileo-umbilical fistula is an abnormality of the yolk duct, with an exit of gases, liquids and fecal matter. It corresponds to the persistence of a permeable ductus, which extends from the ileum to the navel, externalized by a small hole or stoma. We present the case of a term male neonate, in whom an exploratory laparotomy was performed, which showed an atrial segment of the terminal ileum, located 5 cm from the ileal-cecal valve, attached to the remnant of the fibrotic cord and fistulous communication of the ileum to the umbilicus.
