Abstract
BETANCOURT, L; SAGREDO, V; RINCON, C and DELGADO, G.E. Absorción óptica y dependencia de la brecha de energía con la temperatura en monocristales del sistema Cd1-xMnxIn2S4. Rev. mex. fis. [online]. 2006, vol.52, suppl.3, pp.164-166. ISSN 0035-001X.
The optical properties of spinel single crystals of Cd1-xMnxIn2S4 (x=1.0; 0.8) have been studied by optical absorption technique. From the analysis of the experimental data, it was found that the band gap energy Eg of MnIn2S4 (x = 1.0), varies from 2.012 to 1.898 eV between 9 and 300 K. The temperature dependence of Eg, was analyzed by considering two theoretical models reported in the literature. The best fit was obtained by using an expression proposed by Passler. The Debye temperature of MnIn2S4 was estimated to be around 153 K, that correspond to an effective phonon energy ef f = KBθ 10 meV for this compound.
