Abstract

In this work we have detected the isothermal phase transformations occurring in an AA8011 alloy which was homogenized by 24 hours at 600°C. A non isothermal heating at 10°C/min between 20 and 600°C permitted us to determine, by means of differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), the characteristic temperatures of the structural transformations, which are identified at 271.8, 450 and 474.2°C. Isothermal kinetics in situ at these temperatures reveal that heat flux changes which are associated with process of precipitation and dilution of structural phases.
