Resumen

VAZQUEZ-MINERO, Juan Carlos; PORTILLO-TELLEZ, Laura  y  RODRIGUEZ-VAZQUEZ, Jaqueline Vanessa. Diaphragmatic injury due to penetrating trauma and late manifestation with intestinal occlusion. Neumol. cir. torax [online]. 2020, vol.79, n.1, pp.50-52.  Epub 27-Sep-2021. ISSN 0028-3746.

Diaphragmatic injuries due to penetrating trauma, without acute manifestation, are rare, may occur months or years later, but most of these are due to blunt trauma. Penetrating trauma in most cases gives acute manifestations due to injuries to abdominal or thoracic organs, deserving surgical management. This is a 48-year-old man who, three years before, it was presented with stab injuries in both hemithorax with endopleural catheter management with good evolution. He is discharged from the hospital and re-enters due to abdominal pain in epigastrium and intestinal occlusion data. He is studied diagnosing left posttraumatic diaphragmatic hernia with passage from stomach to thoracic cavity. He was operated with reduction of the stomach and repair of the diaphragm with good evolution. In penetrating chest injuries it is important to have a high index of suspicion in possible diaphragm injuries.

Palabras llave : Diaphragmatic injury; posttraumatic diaphragmatic hernia; intestinal occlusion.
