Background: Mortality analysis allows identifying the main causes of death and the characteristics of affected population. Objective: To estimate age standardized and specific mortality rates for lung cancer in Mexico for 2000-2010. Material and methods: Based on of official mortality databases (INEGI), we estimated age standardized trend by direct method and specific mortality ratio for lung cancer (International Diseases Code 10^th edition C34). Results: We observed a fall in lung cancer mortality trend in men, but not in women. In specific mortality rates, the age group more affected was the population with 65 or more years. Conclusions: Mortality rates due to lung cancer are declined in the last years, but remain high for woman. Particular actions are required to decrease them.
