Abstract

This study reviews the life and work of Dr. Denis Jourdanet, an important and interesting figure in both the Mexican and the French history of Medicine. A man of intriguing intellect, Jourdanet made valuable contributions to the physiology of high-altitude respiration and published and supported research in this field. Mexico was Dr. Jourdanet's second home, where he spent many importants years of his life, developed relationships with many contemporary personalities, and married. Jourdanet's work deserves much greater attention in the History of Medicine.
