PRECIADO, Julia. To consecrate Mexico to Jesus's Sacred Heart in 1914: Two cultural history readings. Sig. his [online]. 2019, vol.21, n.41, pp.130-153.  Epub 03-Ago-2020. ISSN 1665-4420.

In this article I analyse two religious processions in 1914: one led by Archbishop José Mora y del Río in Mexico City, the other by Archbishop Francisco Orozco y Jiménez in the city of Guadalajara. Catholics participated in both processions in different ways: in Mexico City, Mora y del Río adhered to government rules regarding public worship. In Guadalajara, when civil authorities prohibited the manifestation Orozco y Jiménez defied them. In this article I show two alternative political readings of the processions and consider both events as "documents" in the widest sense of the term. In order to write it, I worked on archival sources and newspaper articles of the time.
