FLORES FLORES, Graciela. From punitive pluralism to imprisonment: a transit through judicial practice (Mexico City, 19th century). Sig. his [online]. 2018, vol.20, n.39, pp.190-228.  Epub 03-Ago-2020. ISSN 1665-4420.

This article is part of the 19th century Mexican and deals with a little explored criminal transit: that which can be called punitive pluralism typical of the Old Regime society and which involved a wide range of penalties applicable by the judges, to one that consolidates the prison as a penalty and therefore to the loss of freedom executed in prisons. The objectives are to be able to know what the legislative conjunctures were relevant to that change and how they manifested themselves in the punishments applied.

Palavras-chave : penalties; Old Regime; public works; prisons; prison service.
