Although the teratogenic effects of alcohol were described over 40 years ago, many women in the world continue to consume alcohol during their pregnancy. An archival analysis was carried out at the Hospital Civil de Guadalajara 'Dr. Juan I. Menchaca' in order to know the percentage of women who reported consuming alcohol during their pregnancies between the years 1991 and 1998, their association with the use of tobacco and illegal drugs, as well as variations according to age. A prevalence of 2.42% was found and it remains so in the years analyzed, the most common use is that of alcohol associated with tobacco and an effect of age was found in the patterns of consumption where the association alcohol - illegal drug is more frequent among younger women.
