After the mid-18th century, and as a transatlantic correlate of the support Carlos III would give the peninsular arts and industries, American printers became concerned with providing better inputs for their typographical offices, which quickly became apparent in Novo-Hispanic editions. This essay presents a series of findings, the oldest sample of Latin American letters known to date and numerous unpublished archival documents, which allow the reconstruction of the complete circuit of the purchase of typographical material by the printing press owned by the Jáuregui family in the late colonial period. These documents allow the author to approach Mexican printed culture from an aesthetic and material aspect, considering commercial items in order to explore certain promotional and work practices of local workshops, aspects of the American publishing world on which very little information is available.
