GARAY, Graciela de. La escultura monumental de Juan Soriano. Entrevistas al artista plástico y a dos conocedores de sus obras. Secuencia [online]. 2005, n.63, pp.180-216. ISSN 2395-8464.  https://doi.org/10.18234/secuencia.v0i63.935.

Studying the life and work of plastic artist Juan Soriano, through his testimony and the perspectives or accounts of others, in this case, cornmunications graduate Martha González Escobar, and architect Teodoro González de León, constitutes an opportunity to observe the history of Mexico and the country's art at the microscopic level. In this symbolic return to the past embarked on by a person who tells a story through his own history, the interviewer discovers society's rules or norms from the interior of the latter, in other words, through the individuals that accept them as structuring their lives yet at the same time, break them through their own choices, marked by the wish to be desired. This is precisely what marks ordinary biography, as Giovanni Levi has written, "No normative system is in fact so structured as to eliminate any possibility of conscious choice."

Palavras-chave : Guadalajara; Jalisco; Mexico City; Cristero war; monumental sculpture; figurative art; abstract art; contemporary architecture.
