This article analyzes a series of interviews conducted between February and December of 2017 with Nicaraguan migrant women currently living in Costa Rica. These women are leaders of the Asociación Enlaces Nicaragüenses in the Río Azul community and the interviews were conducted to understand the principal reasons why they decided to organize and start this association. The research concludes that the women interviewed exercise their citizenship through the Nicaraguan Links Association, regardless of their immigration status since knowing what their rights are and demanding their implementation is fundamental to survival.

Palavras-chave : women-migrants; Nicaraguans; citizenship,-feminism,-organizations; Central America; participation.
