MARTINEZ ROMERO, Eduardo  e  ESPARZA OLGUIN, Ligia Guadalupe. Theories of complex systems: an epistemic framework for analyzing socioenvironmental complexity. Intersticios sociales [online]. 2021, n.21, pp.373-398.  Epub 30-Ago-2021. ISSN 2007-4964.

The article reviews the epistemic framework of general systems theory and complex systems theory in a comparative and critical context, highlighting their methodological importance for the analysis of ecological, environmental, and socioenvironmental problems. It analyzes the contribution of systemic thinking and models to explanations of social and historical change, and the symbol as an interdisciplinary link. Systemic thinking is examined from three perspectives and the possible controversies that result from them: the science of complexity, complex thinking, and the constructivist theory of complex systems.

Palavras-chave : systems; complexity; epistemology; knowledge building.
