LOPEZ-BALTAZAR, Javier et al. Agronomic evaluation of substrates in pepper seedlings 'onza' (Capsicum annuum) in greenhous. Rev. Mex. Cienc. Agríc [online]. 2013, vol.4, n.spe6, pp.1139-1150. ISSN 2007-0934.

It was determined the physical, chemical and agronomic properties of four substrates obtained from agricultural waste used for the production of seedlings of pepper 'onza' as an alternative to the use of conventional substrates. It was used a completely randomized design (DCA) with 4 treatments and 3 replicates for a total of 12 experimental units. The treatments were: peat (T1) (control), vermicompost (T2) + vermicompost + compost of mezcal maguey bagasse (T3) and compost of mezcal maguey bagasse (T4). The substrates tested had particles between 0.25 and 2 mm. The actual density in the compost ranged from 1.82 to 1.91, air porosity ranged from 2413.33%. Seedlings grown in vermicompost + maguey bagasse (50:50 v: v) (T3) and mezcal maguey bagasse showed greater height (12.29 and 13.07 cm respectively) and the highest stem diameter. Seedlings grown in vermicompost obtained the highest number of leaves (9.25), while the largest stem diameter was observed in seedlings grown in vermicompost + compost of maguey bagasse and compost of mezcal maguey bagasse.
