This paper is a study through simulations about overvoltages generated by lightning induced on the distribution lines of 23 kV, to justify the implementation of an overhead ground wire use as protection for overhead distribution lines, as suggests the standard "Distribución, Construcción e Instalaciones Aéreas en Media y Baja Tensión de la CFE" and supported the IEEE STD 1410 "Guide for Improving the Lightning Performance of Electric Power Overhead Distribution Lines", and implement a new configuration using the same concrete pole with new dielectric distances.
