GUERRERO-CARDENAS, Israel et al. Twenty-year absence: recent sightings of the Roseate Spoonbill (Platalea ajaja) in the Bahia de La Paz, Baja California Sur, Mexico. Huitzil [online]. 2013, vol.14, n.2, pp.105-109. ISSN 1870-7459.

The Roseate Spoonbill (Platalea ajaja) is an extremely rare visitor in the Baja California Peninsula but even more in the bay of La Paz, Baja California Sur. For some authors, this bird is considered a sporadic summer visitor of the Colorado River Delta region and a casual visitor of California. The Roseate Spoonbill was first recorded in the Chametla-Centenario estuary 8 km southwest of La Paz in December 1992. We reported the presence of five individuals in their first and second year on 25 May 2012, 20 years later after their first record in this area, and monitored their activity for 58 days. According to literature, these birds might come from the southern and northern coasts of Sonora and Sinaloa.

Palavras-chave : water birds; wetlands; additional records; Threskiornithidae.
