RODRIGUEZ-LOPEZ, Teresita  e  GUZMAN-RAMIREZ, Nohora B.. Water management and cooperative interactions of users of the Chalchihuapan ravine in northern Cuernavaca, Morelos, Mexico. agric. soc. desarro [online]. 2014, vol.11, n.1, pp.53-70. ISSN 1870-5472.

Since approximately 70 years ago in lands of the ejido Tetela del Monte, located in northern Cuernavaca, Morelos, the production of ornamental plants is carried out. Favored by the geographic location, water availability through the ravine and the experience accumulated by producers, this activity currently places producers in the first places at the national level in productivity of nochebuena (Euphorbia pulcehrrima Wil.) and cempaxúchitl (Tagetes erecta). However, the constant growth of residential zones and compounds in the area has put at risk the water availability for agricultural use. The objective of this article is to analyze the interactions towards cooperation that explain how distribution and access to resources takes place among producers and residents who share a space of common use, the Chalchihuapan ravine. The following variables are emphasized: trust, participation and cooperation of users, stemming from the idea that these are rational decisions that allow explaining the strategies and mechanisms of pro-social orientation.

Palavras-chave : collective action; residents; water management; greenhouse owners.
