MARTINON QUINTERO, Ruth. Normative legitimacy of the Inter-American Court of Human Rights as international tribunal. Andamios [online]. 2020, vol.17, n.42, pp.121-145. Epub 28-Ago-2020. ISSN 2594-1917. https://doi.org/10.29092/uacm.v17i42.737.
The legitimacy of the Inter-American Court of Human Rights has been questioned both by the doctrine and by some States subject to its jurisdiction. Within the broader debate on the legitimacy of courts and international law, responses to such criticisms are sought from this legal system, to the extent that the Court is a court part of it, and within the basis of the legal obligation of international law, addressing both the best philosophical proposals as to the reality of current international law. It is concluded that the work of the Inter-American Court is characteristic of the contemporary international law of human rights that not only enjoys legitimacy in itself, but is a source of legitimacy of international law as a whole.
