The general objective of this research was to design and validate criteria to transform the didactics related to the production of written text in basic primary education in the province of Guanentá, Colombia. This was developed with the active participation of teachers throughout two main stages: design of the criteria and their validation in everyday practical pedagogy. The action research approach was chosen in order to guarantee that the criteria were appropriate for the context and to demonstrate the validity in authentic classroom settings and establish a durable link between teachers and criteria beyond the execution of the project. Thirteen didactic criteria constitute the main result, susceptible to further polishing and reflection. The project also resulted in a regional network of teachers and some didactic strategies. All this raises concerns for new research, related not only to the didactics of writing but also to the impacts of criteria in the writing done by students.
