This study sought to analyze school dropout caused by bullying in students from three rural high schools in the municipality of El Fuerte, Sinaloa, Mexico. The study used semi-structured interviews and a questionnaire. The study population comprised 35 school dropouts and 10 teachers from the San Blas academic unit, in the Autonomous University of Sinaloa and its extensions. Results showed that 77% of school dropouts had been victims of some kind of bullying while studying at high school, mainly taunting due to their low academic performance or indigenous background. Indeed, most dropouts came from predominantly indigenous communities, and lived in moderately or highly marginalized communities.
