The Morgagni hernia is a congenital diagrammatic hernia of the foramen of Morgagni. It is more common that in early age occurs in men, it is usually an incidental finding, 50 to 70% are asymptomatic at the time of diagnosis. It is due to a congenital defect in the costal sterno trine due to the absence of muscle fibers in the diaphragm and the lack of fusion of the anterior pleuroperitoneal membrane. The most common symptoms are retrosternal pain and pulmonary symptoms, obstruction, dysphagia, gastroesophageal reflux disease, bleeding, fatigue and indigestion. For its diagnosis, imaging studies such as postero-anterior and lateral chest radiography and computed tomography are used. The treatment consists of a hernioplasty by transabdominal or transthoracic approach, and is generally a pathology of good prognosis.
