MEXICAN JOURNAL OF BIOMEDICAL ENGINEERING - RMIB

In 1979 the first issue of the Mexican Journal of Biomedical Engineering (RMIB) that included research articles was published. Since then, biomedical engineering has evolved, having so far more than 30 subspecialties (Table 1) according to the World Health Organization (WHO).

Table 1 Subspecialties of Biomedical Engineering according to WHO

Due to the above and with the aim of commemorating the evolution of biomedical engineering and the RMIB in the last 40 years, the Editorial Committee (2018-2019) launches this call for papers for Review Articles that are within the areas that they are listed below:

  • Biosensing using nano materials and micro / nanostructure systems

  • Brain-Computer Interface

  • 3D printing in healthcare

  • Energy Harvesting and Wearable Systems in Healthcare

  • Biomaterials

  • Computer Assisted Diagnosis (CADx) in Medical Imaging

  • Clinical Engineering

The subjects participating in the call for papers are born from the objective of covering the largest number of biomedical engineering subspecialties present in subjects with scientific relevance in recent years and each one of them was proposed by a member of the Editorial Committee. It is necessary to mention that a review article is a detailed, selective and critical study that examines the published literature and places it in a certain perspective. Its main objective is to identify what is known about the topic, what has been investigated, to know the most outstanding progress that this topic has made in a period and what aspects remain unknown.
