GUTHMANN, Yanina. Civil Society and the International Law of Human Rights in Argentina. Perf. latinoam. [online]. 2008, vol.16, n.32, pp.127-150. ISSN 0188-7653.
In Argentina, the implementation in local tribunals and the impact of international human rights law (IHRL) cannot be separated from recent history that was tainted with massive crimes committed during the dictatorship period (1976-1983). The annulment of the so-called Impunity Laws Sentence, based in IHRL, represents a reorganization of the connection between politics and law, and highlights the role of civil society in the interaction between the executive and the judicial powers, between sovereignty and international law. Since claims for justice kept arising from large sectors of the Argentinean society, the role of civil society is essential for understanding the transformation and increase of the IHRL's normative value in Argentinean Higher Courts.
