This paper examines the regional distribution of commmercial towns in the state of Guerrero, Southern Mexico. To do this a temporal dimension was considered from the times prior tó the Spanish conquest to present, as well as some of the factors influencing the establishment and organisation of these commercial centres. Four major towns were distinguished in this context Acapulco Chilpancingo Iguala and Taxco, where most of the commercial activities in Querfero take place.
