REGALADO-LOPEZ, José et al. Associative and organizational model to transfer milpa intercalated with fruit trees technology (MIAF). Estud. soc. Rev. aliment. contemp. desarro. reg. [online]. 2020, vol.30, n.56, e20983. Epub 06-Dic-2021. ISSN 2395-9169. https://doi.org/10.24836/es.v30i56.983.
Objective:
Build a model based on the association and organization of producers to transfer MIAF technology and help improve the profitability of small-scale producers in San Andrés Calpan.
Methodology:
An analysis and diagnosis of the traditional agricultural production system and the technology named Milpa Intercalada con Árboles Frutales (MIAF) system were carried out to identify the main problems, strengths and weaknesses of both systems. With these elements, a model of association and organization was structured, in which producers are partners and have a means (organization) to make technical decisions.
Results:
The elements of the model to scale MIAF technology more quickly were, organization, technical assistance, financing, transformation and market.
Limitations:
The lack of integration of the association-organization can limit the application of this model.
Conclusions:
The MIAF system is highly profitable, since it increases the yields of the corn, bean, squash and fruit crops that comprise it; besides, it contains elements of food security and contributes to mitigating climate change.
