MORALES-ARIAS, José Guadalupe et al. Vascular flora of Villas de Cacoma, sierra de Cacoma, Jalisco, Mexico. Bot. sci [online]. 2016, vol.94, n.2, pp.393-401. ISSN 2007-4476.  https://doi.org/10.17129/botsci.447.

A flora of Villas de Cacoma, located in the Mexican state of Jalisco, is presented. One hundred thirty six families, 451 genera, and 775 species including 13 infraspecific units were recorded. The families with more genera and species are Orchidaceae (41/81), Fabaceae (37/81), Asteraceae (47/77), and Poaceae (22/35). The highest number of species is found in the genera Quercus (20), Salvia (11), Desmodium (10), Epidendrum (8), and Solanum (8). Myrcia splendens, Solanum lanceifolium and Tourrettia lappacea were recorded for the first time for the Jalisco’s flora. Two new species are described and the distribution of at least ten species is expanded which previously were known only for the type locality or very reduced area. Herbs are the richest biological form (43.06 %) and 1.15 % of them are parasitic. Cloud mountain forest is the vegetation with the highest percentage of species (45.9 %) followed by riparian vegetation with 18.8 %. A record of 36 % of the flora for Villas de Cacoma is endemic to Mexico and 32 species are restricted for the state of Jalisco.
