LUVIANO-HERNANDEZ, Jonathan; TAFOLLA-VENEGAS, David; MELENDEZ-HERRERA, Esperanza y FUENTES-FARIAS, Alma L.. Helminths of the bat Macrotus waterhousii (Chiroptera: Phyllostomidae) in two shelters of low deciduous forest in the Municipality of Huetamo, Michoacán, Mexico. Rev. Mex. Biodiv. [online]. 2018, vol.89, n.4, pp.1315-1321. ISSN 2007-8706. https://doi.org/10.22201/ib.20078706e.2018.4.2214.
Gastrointestinal helminths in bats are one of the least studied groups in the country. In the present work, helminths of Macrotus waterhousii (Gray, 1843) were identified in 2 lowland shelters: a natural cave and an abandoned mine in the municipality of Huetamo, Michoacán, México. The helminthological record established for this bat species was constituted by 4 taxa: 1 specimen of the Capillariidae family, the presence of Mediorhynchus sp. which represents a new record for the bat, Vampirolepis macroti as a new record for México and Torrestrongylus tetradorsalis, recorded for the second time since its original description.
