ESTRELLA GONZALEZ, Alejandro. Sociology of intellectual history. The case of Spanish philosophy during the Restauration. Sig. his [online]. 2018, vol.20, n.39, pp.50-87. Epub 03-Ago-2020. ISSN 1665-4420.
In this article, I analyze Spanish philosophy under the Restauration regime. Based on Randall Collins’ sociology, I defend the thesis that philosophical creativity in Spain suffered a contraction that had its zenith at the end of the 19th century but, neverthless, new conditions were generated to recover the creative energy in the first third of the 20th century. After discussing and qualifying Collins’ theoretical proposal, I recount a possible depiction of the history of Spanish philosophy, focused in the 19th and early 20th centuries, after which I offer a possible explanation of the creative stagnation and latter takeoff. Finally, I propose a set of methodological operations directed to test this narrative.
