HERNANDEZ PEREZ, José Santos y FLORES PADILLA, María Magdalena. Jacobo de Villaurrutia, a promoter of associations in Hispanic America. Sig. his [online]. 2012, vol.14, n.28, pp.44-67. ISSN 1665-4420.
The public performance of Jacobo de Villaurrutia constitutes an alternative to analyze the associations developed in the late eighteenth century in settings such as Spain, Guatemala and New Spain. In these geographical areas Villaurrutia founded academies, economic societies and publications, which adopted a dual role as centers for the promotion of culture, arts, industry, education and science and at the same time as a starting point for a series of networks for strengthening ties with colonial administrative level.
