FORNI, Pablo y GRANDE, Pablo De. Triangulation and mixed methods in contemporary social sciences. Rev. Mex. Sociol [online]. 2020, vol.82, n.1, pp.159-189. Epub 30-Jun-2020. ISSN 2594-0651. https://doi.org/10.22201/iis.01882503p.2020.1.58064.
The combination of different methodologies in the same research has become common practice in contemporary Social Sciences. From the subsidiarity of qualitative to quantitative research and the incompatibility between these methods, over half a century ago, the discussion shifted towards how to integrate them. This article reviews two proposals about the combination of methods -methodological triangulation and mixed methods- and analyzes their impact on recent research through a bibliometric analysis of articles published in Spanish in the Redalyc academic catalogue between 2001 and 2016.
