In order to contribute to the reduction of the negative impacts generated by forest fires in specific settlements, such as the campamentos (informal settlements); the present study addresses the situation of those precarious settlements located in the amphitheater of the commune of Valparaíso and the evaluation and classification of the threat by forest fire with respect to these settlements. A methodological adaptation is proposed from various similar studies, but this work is focused only on the threat and contemplates variables based on three categories such as historical occurrence, ignition and propagation. For this methodology, multicriteria analysis and the AHP method are used to estimate different weights for each variable in the weighting and obtain maps that show the classification at different levels of threat. The results of this study show that certain groups of campamentos or informal settlements on its own tend to be more prone to wildfires occurring in or around their surroundings, especially in rural-urban interface areas and in the upper parts of the Valparaíso amphitheater.
