Resumen

GUERRA LOPEZ, Rodrigo. From the Politician as Educator to the (Difficult) Education of the Politician. Rev. filos.open insight [online]. 2022, vol.13, n.29, pp.31-43.  Epub 19-Mayo-2023. ISSN 2395-8936.  https://doi.org/10.23924/oi.v13i29.580.

One of the most interesting theses of Aristotle’s ethical and political writings is that the ruler —the one who legislates — is also the best educator of the citizens. Through the laws, he regulates the way of living and the education of all the citizens, especially of the youngest. However, it is not always easy to know how this is done, beyond coercive power. Through the application of universal norms, as in science? By principles discovered in practice, as in art? Or maybe because of certain generic dispositions, which are later helped by other immediate and concrete educational agents, such as parents and friends?

Palabras llave : ideal city; utopia; wisdom; good life; practical life; virtues.
