Resumen

SABO, María José. The Journey to the Interior Towns in the Contemporary Chronicle. A New Margin to Rethink the Imaginaries of Nation. Latinoamérica [online]. 2023, n.76, pp.53-82.  Epub 17-Mar-2023. ISSN 2448-6914.  https://doi.org/10.22201/cialc.24486914e.2023.76.57542.

the aim of this article is to study a series of travel chronicles to inland towns in capital writers —Caparrós, Uhart, Sánchez, Cristoff, Carrión, Guerriero and Moreno— around the 2000s in Argentina. I propose to think that this transfer reactivates the potency of the travel narrative by making the rural space a quarry of reflections on the imaginaries of the nation and its failed discourses of modernization. In this sense, “the small-town” [lo pueblerino] is sought within the literary system in dialogue with the moment of cultural crisis that frames it, as a spatiality little traveled by the chronicle writings themselves as well as by the critical approaches in the region. The article concludes by recording a singular approach of these chronicles to testimony, through the unusual appeal to the strategy of listening within writing and the access and opening of “domestic archives”.
