Resumen

HERNANDEZ REYES, Julián Francisco; OJEDA RAMIREZ, Mario Miguel  y  SANCHEZ-SOSA, Eika Rubí. Promotion of reading through cinema during the Covid-19 pandemic. LiminaR [online]. 2023, vol.21, n.1, e962.  Epub 20-Ene-2023. ISSN 2007-8900.  https://doi.org/10.29043/liminar.v21i1.962.

This article discusses the results of a reading promotion activity carried out in Xalapa, Veracruz, Mexico, during the Covid-19 pandemic. Based on a literacy perspective, a constructivist approach, and the appreciation for reading through cinema, spectators were guided through diverse literary genres in order to encourage readers to critically understand what they read by referencing their own personal contexts. A workshop involving participatory-action research was undertaken with three fundamental objectives: promote reading, highlight literature’s relevance in culture and society, and promote reading comprehension. A conclusion derived from this exercise is that a film-literature duo can be useful in fulfilling the stated objectives.

Palabras llave : literacy; reading comprehension; promotion of reading; cinema.
