Resumen

UITZIL-COLLI, Michael Oswaldo  y  GUZMAN-DAVALOS, Laura. The genus Morchella (Pezizales, Ascomycota) in Jalisco, Mexico. Sci. fungorum [online]. 2019, vol.49, e1209.  Epub 29-Ago-2019. ISSN 2594-1321.  https://doi.org/10.33885/sf.2019.49.1209.

Background:

In Mexico, 15 species of Morchella are known, six listed by the NOM-059-SEMARNAT-2010. In the Jalisco state, there are five species reported. Although all are edible, it is not customary to eat them in Jalisco.

Objective:

To identify Morchella specimens deposited at IBUG Herbarium, using morphological data, in order to update the taxonomic information of this group in the Jalisco state.

Methods:

Ninety specimens deposited at IBUG were examined, using annotations in fresh condition from collectors, observations from dry specimens, and ascoma cuts observed through optic microscope.

Results and conclusions:

Four (Morchella guatemalensis, and complexes M. costata, M. elata, M. esculenta) from the five previously recorded species were corroborated. Morchella rufobrunnea and M. angusticeps complex are cited for the first time. The most frequent in Jalisco were M. rufobrunnea and M. costata. A taxonomic key for the species of Morchella from Jalisco is presented. A phylogenetic study with molecular data is needed to confirm which species from the mentioned complexes are present in Jalisco state.
