Resumen

HERRERA ROSALES, Erika. Space, time and racism from a decolonial perspective: an outline to decolonize research on international migration. Inter disciplina [online]. 2018, vol.6, n.16, pp.167-186.  Epub 24-Feb-2021. ISSN 2448-5705.  https://doi.org/10.22201/ceiich.24485705e.2018.16.65639.

Given the diversity of conceptualizations on the phenomenon of international migration, some scholars have called for different analytical and interpretative frameworks. If we respond to this invitation, we should take into account the contributions from different disciplines and traditions of thought. In this article we propose the decolonial approach as a new vein to rethink the theoretical debate on migration. We proposed that thinkers such as Linda Tuhiwai Smith and Enrique Dussel may contribute to the migration dialogue from a decolonial perspective by emphasizing the categories of space and time. These two categories will be taken as a starting point to link them with other concepts, such as the world-system of Wallerstein and the zones of being and the zone of non-being of Fanon, which Ramon Grosfoguel adopts as part of a decolonial epistemology. This will allow us to understand how the elements of decolonial geopolitics can contribute to the theoretical discussion about migration, and in turn, this phenomenon is reconfigured given its colonial history, power relations and racism that structure it.

Palabras llave : migration; decoloniality; space; time; racism.
