CERVANTES-VALLEJO, F.J. et al. Heating time optimization in a rapid thermal response mold using FEM-MSR-PSO. RIIIT. Rev. int. investig. innov. tecnol. [online]. 2019, vol.7, n.40, pp.1-18.  Epub 05-Feb-2021. ISSN 2007-9753.

This paper presents a heating system in a rapid thermal response mold is optimized implementing a surface response methodology. The numerical factors in the Box-Behnken design are: (1) the heat flux per area unit of the electrical heating rods, (2) the distance between centers of the electrical heating rods to the surface of the cavity, and (3) the distance between the adjacent electrical heating rods. Thermal and thermal- structural analysis were performed to get the required heating time, the variation of the temperature in the cavity, and the Von-Mises Stress. An analysis of variance verified the results obtained. Finally, by coupling the mathematical models with the particle swarm optimization method, the optimal values of the position of the electrical heating rods were found to minimize the heating time within a specific temperature distribution and structural strength.
