An application of Artificial Neural Networks (ANN) for the seismic design of reinforced concrete buildings is presented. Two models of ANN were trained. The first model corresponds to buildings designed for 8 -12 stories and the second model for 4 7 stories. The buildings are located in soft soil of the valley of Mexico. The Feed-Forward Backpropagation network is used for the ANN models. Two models designed by means of ANN were compared with those obtained with the conventional design way. As a result of a comparative analysis, maximum differences around 15% were found in the structural elements; therefore, the proposed ANN models are accepted.
