AGUIRRE CALDERON, Oscar Alberto. Growth modeling of Pinus teocote Schtdl. Et Cham. in northeastern Mexico. Rev. mex. de cienc. forestales [online]. 2013, vol.4, n.17, pp.28-41. ISSN 2007-1132.
Modelling forest growth facilitates the estimation of the productivity of these ecosystems and the use of a species based on site quality and silvicultural treatment. This will provide practical information on average and characteristic growth and is feasible to make a fast and inexpensive estimate of the volume and the development of the stands. This paper deals with the development of site index curves and yield tables for pure, dense stands of Pinus teocote in northeastern Mexico. Data were obtained from the measurement of 280 dominant trees and 66 temporary sampling plots. A family of five anamorphic site index curves were fitted using the guide curve method with the Richards function and the reference age of 50 years. Magin's methodology modified to consider dominant height intervals was used to construct the yield tables. The relationship between the main stand parameters were determined using regression equations. Results show that this approach is satisfactory to obtain a simple and effective management tool for these stands. The mean annual increment varies from 2.1 to 9.5 m3 ha-1.
