PENICHE CAMPS, Salvador y AVILA GARCIA, Patricia. Exploring the concept of virtual water exports: Case of Mexican strawberry. Rev. Mex. Cienc. Agríc [online]. 2012, vol.3, n.8, pp.1579-1590. ISSN 2007-0934.
In the present work discusses the concept of virtual water as a useful tool for understanding the biophysical limits of the process of social production. So with the help of this theoretical tool, we explore the impact of international trade on water reserves in the case of exports of strawberries grown in the agricultural valley of Zamora, Mexico. The research provides the means to identify some of the processes that generate the appropriation of the last reserves of subsoil pristine water from the agricultural valley of Zamorano to world strawberry market. This is relevant because the characteristic processes of this fertile region of the state of Michoacán represent a model that is being implemented in various agricultural regions of the country. The research was conducted between 2000 and 2006.
