RODRIGUEZ BRINDIS, Martín Alberto. The contribution of tourism to economic growth of México: An analysis by tourism industries. Nova scientia [online]. 2015, vol.7, n.13, pp.337-351. ISSN 2007-0705.
Tourism is an economic activity that is considered increasingly important to generate economic growth and combat poverty. However, the relationship between tourism and economic growth is still not as clear. This paper presents the methodology proposed by Ivanov and Webster (2007) to measure the contribution of tourism to economic growth. Additionally, there has been an expansion of this methodology to measure the individual contribution that each of the tourism industries has on economic growth, allowing us to have a broader view of the link between tourism and economic growth. This method is applied to the case of Mexico for the period 2005-2012.
