Primary lymphoma of the mediastinum is a diffuse large cell lymphoma of B-cell type that occurs most often between the third and fourth decades of life, with a predominance in women. This kind of lymphoma corresponds to 2.4% of all lymphomas in adults. The clinical presentation of mediastinal lymphoma is often an emergency because of its rapid growth and the risk of vena cava syndrome. The main diagnostic procedure is an incisional biopsy by mediastinoscopy or thoracoscopy. The optimal treatment for these tumors is not entirely standardized, it depends on the general health condition of the patient. Chemotherapy schemes depend largely on the size of the tumor and if adjuvant radiotherapy is considered.
