SANCHEZ JUAREZ, Isaac Leobardo y CAMPOS BENITEZ, Edgar. Industria manufacturera y crecimiento económico en la frontera norte de México. Región y sociedad [online]. 2010, vol.22, n.49, pp.45-89. ISSN 2448-4849.
The northern Mexican border is a region which has been characterized by its dynamism for several decades, especially since the economic model shifted towards foreign markets. In relative terms, the economic performance of the northern border states has been better than in other Mexican states. Data for 1993-2008 confirm that it is a successful region based on the increase of gross domestic product per capita. Using a theoretical framework alternative to the neoclassical economic growth framework, it is demonstrated that the increase in the region's manufacturing industries is the leading cause of its significant economic success.
