Resumen

DAMIAN HUATO, Miguel Ángel et al. Hombres y mujeres en la producción de maíz: un estudio comparativo en Tlaxcala. Región y sociedad [online]. 2008, vol.20, n.42, pp.63-94. ISSN 2448-4849.

In the agricultural regions of Tlaxcala a study was carried out which contrasted the use of technology recommended by the Instituto Nacional de Investigaciones Forestales, Agrícolas y Pecuarias [National Institute of Forest, Agricultural and Cattle Research] during 2002, with the technology employed by corn producers. The concept of agricultural technology appropriation was utilized. The results show that among producers of the rural development districts (RDD) , there is a reduced differentiated and inadequate technological appropriation. In general, there is a direct relationship between appropriation and unitary yields; pluriactivity affects the suitable use of technology and the productivity of corn producers; recommended technology does not inclu-de agricultural practices based on empirical farming knowledge; and different factors like the will of resource producers, the agricultural characteristics of districts, and the economic and demographic structure of the state generate low technological appropriation.

Palabras llave : agricultural region; location coefficient; agricultural technology appropriation index; corn handling; empirical farming knowledge.
