Russelia (Plantaginaceae) is a genus consisting of 48 to 52 species, distributed from northern Mexico to Colombia and the Antilles. In Mexico, 38 species have been registered and 3 of them, are found in Guanajuato and Querétaro. The objective of this paper is to describe a new species for science, R. longipedunculata Pérez-Calix, from the northeast of Guanajuato and north of Querétaro. R. tenuis Lundell is the closet related species and its affinity is herewith discussed. The most prominent features are: the size and morphology of the peduncle and the pedicel, the presence of resiniferous scales in the segments of the calyx; besides having different distribution area.
